Wildfire board · grid exposure inside active fire
A fire perimeter on a public map tells you where the fire is. It does not tell
you which substations and transmission circuits are inside it, what they feed, or
which corridor to de-energise next. Stormward joins live fire geometry to the real
grid and answers the operational half of the question.
What it answers
- Which assets are inside the perimeter — substations and transmission segments spatially joined to live fire polygons, not just plotted near them.
- Where the next ignition is likely — ignition indices computed on observed National Weather Service gridpoint temperature, humidity and wind.
- Which corridors are exposed — fire-weather and rate-of-spread physics over the corridors that matter, feeding a de-energisation view.
- What is actually confirmed — incidents reconciled across federal and state sources, with per-source degradation when a feed goes quiet.
Built on real data

Fused live sources
Incidents and perimeters from NIFC WFIGS joined on IRWIN identifier, fire-weather
and Red Flag alerts from the National Weather Service, incidents from CAL FIRE, and
grid assets from HIFLD. Every source degrades independently and falls back to last
known good rather than failing the board.
